چکیده
A new linearization method for optical transmitters based on directly modulated lasers (DMLs), named the Stretched method, was proposed in Parts I and II of this work. presented theoretical framework non-return-to-zero (NRZ) modulation related detailed simulation experimental results. Here, we extend to pulse amplitude schemes (PAM). Focussing 4-level PAM (PAM-4), present background discuss implementation options. simplified variation generation signals with a significantly lower number sub-currents is proposed. Simulation studies PAM-4 transmission at 50 GBaud (100 Gb/s) an proof-of–principle demonstration 16 (32 are reported 850 nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting (VCSELs). For PAM-4, products effective eye diagram areas ( ${\boldsymbol{PS}}$ ) 0.6 × 10 ?5 43 before after applying were measured, demonstrating improvement ratio ?72. The sensitivity tolerances analyzed using experiment.

Dual Amplitude-Width Pulse Interval Modulation for Optical Wireless Communications
In this paper, a new modified digital pulse interval modulation called Dual Amplitude-Width Pulse Interval Modulation (DAWPIM) is presented, on the basis of Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), and its properties are presented. After introducing symbol structure, data rate improvement, average normalized power requirement and bandwidth efficiency are studied. The p...
متن کاملDifferential Amplitude Pulse-Position Modulation for Indoor Wireless Optical Communications
We propose a novel differential amplitude pulse-position modulation (DAPPM) for indoor optical wireless communications. DAPPM yields advantages over PPM, DPPM, and DH-PIMα in terms of bandwidth requirements, capacity, and peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). The performance of a DAPPM system with an unequalized receiver is examined over nondispersive and dispersive channels. DAPPM can provide be...
متن کاملPulse Modulation Techniques for UMTS Handset Transmitters
UMTS transmitters in handsets, based on WCDMA, have to fulfill contradicting requirements. On the one hand, they should operate in a highly power efficient way because battery lifetime is a major consideration for handsets. For this purpose, the application of switchedmode RF power amplifiers seems to be advantageous. On the other hand, the spectral efficiency of the transmitted signal has to b...
متن کاملAdaptive differential amplitude pulse-position modulation technique for optical wireless communication channels based on fuzzy logic
Optical wireless communication has the potential for extremely high data rates of up to tens of Gb/s. In this study, a hybrid modulation technique named adaptive differential amplitude pulse-position modulation (DAPPM) is proposed to improve channel immunity by utilising optimised modulation to channel. The unit transmission rate, channel capacity, peak-to-average power ratio, bandwidth require...
متن کاملPulse-Based Ultra-Wideband Transmitters
Ultra-wideband radio (UWB) is a rapidly developing wireless technology that promises unprecedented data rates for short-range commercial radios, combined with precise locationing and high energy efficiency. These benefits stem from the use of wide bandwidths and impulse signaling, implying high channel capacity and precise time resolution. UWB has been used for military radar and imaging since ...
